Great people have written great things about the Penwith peninsula -
which has an undeniable character of its own, away from it all in the far west of a county that is itself a world away from the mainstream bustle of modern life. At the heart of this “great escape” lies the picturesque and largely unspoilt historic village of St Buryan.
|
The village offers a superb quality of life, with its tranquil setting belying its close proximity to some of Cornwall’s finest beaches, superb coastal walks and world-class visitor attractions. St Buryan’s appeal is now being enhanced with the creation of high quality new homes by award - winning Poltair Homes.
Lefra Orchard will be a credit to the village and West Cornwall, comprising just 22 cottages built in the traditional Penwith style, with the local characteristics of compact, individualistic residential designs. No two homes will look alike. All have been individually designed by Catchfrench Design, architects of great note in the sphere of traditional designs for
Cornish housing developments.
The Lefra Orchard homes, all with their own gardens, will be laid out in two small courtyards with a linking access way to provide a sense of containment. The layout provides for small private areas appropriate
for family use. Ample parking space will be created, along with a children’s safe play area.
All the houses will be conventional in terms of basic rectangular design but incorporate the relatively steeply pitched roofs indigenous to West Penwith. A feature of the new homes will be their porches. These will be in a variety of sizes and appearances and each will be clearly identifiable as the entrance to a particular house.

Residents will be just a short drive away from a large number of locations and attractions of great beauty and note. These include Land’s End, the spectacular natural landmark quite literally at “the end of the road,” and the breathtakingly beautiful Pedn-vounder beach, regarded by many as Cornwall’s finest - an accolade indeed.

|
The quintessentially Cornish ports of Penzance and Newlyn are also
close at hand, along with the quaint coastal village of Mousehole,
the artists’ paradise of St Ives, with the West Country’s own
Tate Gallery, the unique open -air cliffside Minack Theatre, the
enchantingly beautiful Lamorna Valley, and Porthcurno, where you can
visit the Secret Wartime Telegraph Museum concealed in the cliffs
above the magnificent golden sandy beach.
